I’m only going to this show for the cause.
But I think it’s bullshit that the bands are all from a very specific scene in Houston. And it is highly inconsiderate to think that that is the only local music scene.
With that being said, there should be a PA 4 VJ PART 2 featuring really good local bands who also care for and support Vinyl Junkie as a venue. (ie. indie rock, folk, crust, screamo, emo, etc.)  JUST SAYING.

I personally asked you Liana to lead me in the right direction to add bands and the only one you mentioned was Olajuwon, which I know Jacob. I don’t really speak with many bands outside heavy music scene, because well everyone my age got out years ago. You didn’t say this was bullshit when you IMed me last night, you showed no hostility about the matter. So why the harsh words now?
Still scratching my head how you consider all of these bands from one scene. Hardcore has 3 different generations of scenes, just not 1.  Plus the pop punk, grind, CRUST, thrash and TEMPEST..I mean come on!!! would have been more powerviolence/crust bands but Unite To Destroy fest is the same day
You could have set this show up months ago with any of your friends with any of the bands you wanted, and you didn’t.

I didn’t think my band(tempest) and H.R.A. or No Nuts No Glory and Will To Live had the same specific crowd but that’s just me I suppose.

“The same scene” means it’s a bunch of people who know each other, hang out, and enjoy the same music. Just because some kids play in a pop-punk band doesn’t mean they don’t frequent hardcore shows. You’re arguing for the sake of arguing because I’m right.
Tobin, I told you last night that a friend and I were talking about booking a part 2 to include DIY music outside of hardcore/pop-punk/post rock.
You guys don’t realize that there are more scenes in the area because you only care about yours.
Seriously, no offense to any members of these bands but I would like to see a show that doesn’t have Will To Live, Fingers Cross, The Tempest, Band of Mercy, Cast Away, etc.
You seriously cannot tell me that at least one of those bands doesn’t try to open for ANY popular touring act that comes through town.
“the community”

Also I booked emo/screamo/indie/skramz/punk shows frequently from the years 2000-2004, I just stick with hardcore these days because its what I love.

We’re friends, in bands, playing a show for a place that we feel more at home at and would rather play at on most occasions. There are “no venues” so everyone uses vj but after a new place opens and everyone moves on we’ll still be playing there and supporting the place as long as Titus will allow. I don’t know, I suppose my point - though not stated at all - is that this argument is silly either way. It’s music. There’s a lot of it. Enjoy it or don’t. AND the tempest sucks. so does altered minds…
